Gift for baby boy

    Hi,

I am hoping all the mammies can help me on this one.....

A friend had a baby boy recently, I dont want to buy clothes for the baby as mother is very fussy, has her own taste and might not like what I will buy. Also, she will receive too many gifts of clothes anyway, some might never be worn.

Any ideas of a gift other than clothes?

I was thinking about getting nappies, sudocream, johnstons baby shampoo, bath oil, etc... talc powder, ear tips, baby sponge, baby wipes, cotton wool etc.. Let me know if you think of anything else suitable to add in....

Would a mother appreciate this gift? I presume all mothers will use these and they will not go to waste, handy if she cant go to the shops etc...

    Thanks :D

My best friend made up a basket of things like that for me.
It was really handy and much welcomed.

Burts bees does nice stuff for babies.

Or a nice photo frame from Links of London or something like that.

Your basket is a very good idea too.

If you do decide to get clothes, get them for when the toddler is 18 months or so: the clothes will last longer.

A great idea. We got a box of 12 packets of wipes from a neighbour and it was one of the best presents we got!!
A hamper full of all the necessities would be lovely.
Nappies can be a bit awkward because you don't know what size he will use and some people can be fussy about the brand too!
But wipes (fragrance free Johnsons!) and sudocrem, vaseline, bath lotion (lavender to help baby sleep), baby lotion (something that doesn't smell too girly), johnson's baby shampoo and also a thermometer, teetha sachets, bonjela, snuffle babe, dodies with dody chain!!, teething ring, nurofen, and calpol - all of these will be required later but Mummy will be very happy to have them in the house at 3am when baby wakes up because of teething!!
I would suggest having a look at those "special offers" leaflets that come in from various supermarkets and you'll see what you can buy in bulk for cheaper! Happy shopping. :)

I recently got a really lovely gift for my baby boy, it is a print of a toybox that shows all his birth details like his name, date & time of birth, weight etc.. It is very personal and a great keepsake.

It is really colourful and comes in a white frame, perfect in his nursery.
I loved it so much I got one for my God daughter,it was delivered directly to her home beautifully gift wrapped and Mum and Dad were thrilled with it. Made a change from all the clothessmile.gif and usual stuff.

I posted about it and attached a picture a few weeks back (sorry for repeating myself:o)

I got mine via their Facebook page www.facebook.com/Prints4gifts
You can view their samples here,

12 pack of wipes is a good one :-) cool idea.

(Its like that old Cadbury Creme Egg ad.....12,621 creme eggs.....that should keep them going for a while.....first custome "I'll have 12,621 creme egss please"....12 pack of wipes will last until ...oh....Friday week maybe? (ok maybe a bit longer than that)).

For me....books are always a good idea.
