I just downloaded mbox mail pro for the iPhone as I don't like the default email client.

But does anyone know if I can configure this app so that it fetches emails only when I want or say every 30 mins etc.....like you can on the default client?

It's the only thing at moment I can't seem to be able to do.

Ok since no one knows anything about this app, is there another similar app that will have all the functionality of this app but that I can configure to fetch data only when I want etc?

Unlikely any app can, as that's not one of the background processing features offered by iOS. The most an App Store app would be able to do is receive a notification from a server when a new mail arrives and download it when the app is opened. This would require the server to send iPhone app notifications though.

I see. No problem so. Christ the amount of spam I'm getting into my inbox though is unreal. Can't stop it :(

I've seen suggestions to route your email through Gmail, which means it passes through their spam filters. Would that be any use to you? You can use the push/pull settings then too.

But you can't access your email contacts in the default email client on the iPhone. You can only reply or send an email if you know the address of contact you want to email.

If the address is listed in the contact information in the Contacts or Phone app, tapping that will take you to the Mail application.
