Hello, i have a klargester managed flow biodisc, today the trip switch in the fuse board panel tripped and will not go back. i had an electrician call out today to have a look and he said it was the biocycle unit.

Just wondering has anyone had this problem, or know how to fix it. thanks for any help

    Hi ntgar,

just wondering if/how you resolved this problem. I think I have the same system (I'll be finding out this evening). The switch tripped while I was away on holidays so maybe the pump ran dry?

    Hi,
There should be a green light on your system to indicate if its getting power, i would check this first. The wastewater system should be on its own circuit breaker so if this wont reset you should contact the manufacturer, if you dont know which system it is,then ask builder or previous owner if possible. Or post a picture of the system and im sure someone will be able to identify it.

If you are not covered by warranty or maintenance contract you can expect to pay for call out charge, mileage, and parts.

Check the number of the breaker.
I had a similar issue, and an electrician fixed in 10 mins.
My original breaker was B10; he replaced it with a C rated breaker.
Apparently motors need a C rated breaker but they are often installed with a B.

System is running again (without any callout etc). But we need to get it desludged. How often would this need to be done (if heard varying reports of 1 and 2 years)?. How much would you expect to pay? I'm seeing quotes close to 300euro. Ouch.

The number of people using the system, how well the system is maintained, and the size and design of the system will determine how often the tank will have to be desludged. I was told by a serviceman who put a 2.5 meter rod into my tank to check the sludge level, that it needs desludging once the sludge level is about 1/3 of the way up the tank.
Ask you county council for a list of licensed sewage contractors and get a quote from all.
I think i paid €100 but that was a few years ago and a local farmed desludged it.

Turns out that as well as needing emptying that the pump had packed in. The pump was tripping the RCD but in fairness had lasted 7 years which is good apparently. Note to self: clean out the blower filter and hose down the pump and aeration pipe every 6 months or so.

Is it the Pump or the motor driving it.. ?
Can you find the manufacturers name and serial number on failed unit ? You might be able to price the part on-line ?

The pump out of the unit failed. Its an Envirocare Biotec P6 IPS sewage system so is pumped to the percolation area.
I've already sourced and installed the replacement. Problem solved.
