Anyone have a recommendation on a book that'd teach me how to develop negatives, colour and black and white. I'd like to read through on the process to see if it would be something I'd be interested in.

I'd do a course on it but the place that I knew that did it had their darkroom destroyed by the floods last year.

DCC run courses for members. And our own thefizz (monochromemeath.com) for black and white. I've never seen a book covering colour and mono, but they might exist. Colour is a bit of a different animal. In all fairness though nothing beats doing it yourself. I've shown people how to do it in an hour..

I'm in Cork, so those courses are out for me. Although I wouldn't mind two different books if they weren't too expensive.

I'm in UCC and I was talking to the Photo Society today, but it looks like the darkroom they have was destroyed in the floods last year along with a lot of their camera equipment. Things are a bit topsy turvy from what I saw, with new people running everything causing some dropped balls. Hopefully they haven't missed the deadline for insurance claims though. I'm just kicking myself for not doing the darkroom course when I was an undergrad. And even more so for not deciding to save for a camera then.

This book is extracted from a magazine series from many years ago but is an excellent and simple introduction to processing and printing. It's black and white only but still worth it. At prices from £0.01 plus P&P, you can't go wrong and I have bought several copies at this stage that I have given to friends.

Definitely recommend going with thefizz's courses. Been on several and all excellent in content and value for money.
