Waterproof shoes to wear on the commute?

    Hey all,

So I have a question and it's something that has been a pain in the @ss ever since I started commuting to work (2yrs+). I need to get some sort of waterproof shoes to wear on the walk to/from the train every day.

I am lucky enough to be able to wear casual clothes to work, usually black skinny jeans/black leggings/jeggings etc, so I'd like to wear the same shoes during the day as on the commute - i.e. not have to change in work.

Has anyone come across decent waterproof shoes that don't look like I'm about to go climbing Kilimanjaro!?! Not stupidly fussy, but I was thinking something like black leather converse or something casual enough? Anyone got an answer to my prayers?

There's nothing worse than ARRIVING to work with wet feet and feeling horrible all day!

Although I think nothing beats a good pair of boots, I use a spray-on sealant for leather, suede and nubuck from Clarks. It is brilliant for keeping the rain out as it repels the water droplets. Highly recommend and it also means that if you may not have to get new shoes - it may work on ones you already wear and be a cheap solution.

Ooh that might just do the job, as I do have good leather boots but they tend to let in water around where it joins the sole, so I may invest in that spray and save myself the expense of having to get new shoes!

+1 on boots - as winter comes in you should be able to get them everywhere.

    With skirts knee high,

With skinny jeans or leggings I'd go for ankle high.

Got great ones in clarkes a year or two back.

I don't know how you'll feel about this recommendation OP but I wear Dubes on any wet days, they look well under bootleg jeans I think and I even wear them with straight leg jeans. I've had a pair since 5th year that have been worn nearly every day since and still don't let the water in and that was six years ago! They're super comfortable too, I always wear them when I know a lot of walking is on the cards and in work (in a pub) where I could be flat out on a 12 hour shift. They've never let me down, whole family swear by them!

I wear Uggs. Waterproof unless they get absolutely soaked.
