    Hi,

After so much excellent feedback on laser, I’m just after coming from my free consultation for laser treatment and they’ve ok’d me for LASIK.
Now the basic cost on each eye is 395, but it shoots way up for intralase and wavefront to something like 1800stg in total

I’m in two minds as to whether or not to go for intralase and wavefront. I know the basic package should do the job I want, but obviously results are improved if using intralse and wavefront. Can anyone suggest reasons for and against to help me make up my mind ?

    Thanks,

    HI
I went to Optical express and had Wave front with the shorter recovery ( 1 day vs. 4-6days)., full price with discounts VHI tax was 2600. I have to say paying for the more expensive procedure was well worth it. I felt like **** for 4 hours and then I was fine. I wouldn’t recommend for the sake of a few quid (if u can afford it) going through 4- 6 days of recovery, it’s not pretty. My Friend had both procures done, not sure why, but he was able to compare the recovery time of both and he highly advised me to go for the shorter recovery time and he was right, it’s a must!
Another thing I learn about the Wave front is that it’s a lot more accurate and you’ll get better results with it. I had my eyes done 3 weeks ago and both eyes are 2 levels better then 20:20.
A few things they didn’t tell me before I got it done were
    · No football for 3 months( contact sport)
    · No swimming for a few weeks
    · Procedure can be described as being a bit like the visit to the dentist pain wise but maybe not as harsh. Mentally more painful then Physically- see what they are doing or sensations of what they are doing.
    · No straining of yours eyes for few days looking at computer screens, tv etc.
    · You have to wear eye protection for week in bed
    · Loads of drops
And that’s all the bad stuff best of luck with whatever you decide. It was well worth it.

hi SnappleJacks, I had the option to go for Intralase at Optilase but decided to just go for the Wavefront. The Surgeon explained to me the differenence but there is not abny difference in the results. I think Intralase is just an marketing ploy to get more money out of people. i paid 2000 euro for my treatment and i have better than 20/20 vision
