    Hi All,

I am going increasing my miles on the road and it has been suggested that I get a running belt so I can bring along some Gels and Water. I have seen a few such belts in sports shops and department stores but I am unsure of their quality, comfort, etc.

I came across this belt (http://www.runways.ie/store/product/5236/Nathan-Trail-Mix-Water-Belt/) and was wondering would it be a good option? or if anyone has any other links that I could check out I would greatly appreciate it.

Have that belt with a year and recommend it. Used to have a velcro one but it drove me mad as when you upped the pace, everything fell off.

Pocket expands and can fit gels, keys, a couple of bars and jellies in all the pockets with the two bottles.

    Thanks for that chinguetti

Is the belt lightweight and do you find that the straps loosen on this or is it guarenteed for the duration of your run? Much appreciated.

Might purchase it this evening if they have it in the shop.

After training up for the HM and doing longer routes I've also found lack of water annoying, I don't like holding bottles and whilst I have driven out to certain points on my route and dropped bottles of water its not ideal.

I was looking at this on sub4.iehttp://www.sub4.ie/product_info.php?products_id=417&osCsid=268ccd30ab93de1bee63a628e6ae866b

But have to say I'm liking http://www.runways.ie/store/product/5236/Nathan-Trail-Mix-Water-Belt/ more due to the less amount of bottles, so likely less annoying and less weight

chinguetti, what type of miles are you putting in using it?

Have done a 20 two weeks ago, doing another 20 with it on Saturday, did the Larne half in March, did 10 last Sunday with it, doing Cork to Cobh with it, etc., etc. I see it as essential for long runs nowadays from 10 upwards.

Have used it to train for 2 marathons so must have done at least 20 lsr and races in it.

Never noticed the weight as an issue and the bottles are secure in it. Clip is good and strap can tighten it up for you. I wear it back to front (bottles and pockets on my back) so a little bit of water comes out the nozzles but not much. Never had any cuts from the belt. Easy to refill while running from a normal bottle but takes a bit of practice.

If you're buying it, bring a gel and food that you use and see if its fits. I did and the lads at Runways let me see if the pockets were what i wanted before i bought it. I'ld buy it if they have it, if not they'll order it for you, the lads are very helpful there.

By the way, i've no connection with Runways, just a satisfied customer.

I got on of the Fuel-Belts (brand name) from Irishfit about 2 years ago. I have to say they are great. I have added a pouch to it for carrying gels etc. The other good thing is you have a good safe spot for they keys. Only problem I ever had was a little chaffing in wet weather, so I normally put a little bodyglide on and that works a treat. The other thing is they get lighter the further you run:)

I use this Nathan-Speed-4-Hydration-Belt as i find it very handy on my longest runs to fill 2 bottles with water and 2 with lucozade sport or something simular. Shorter runs just bring 2 bottles of water. Not much bouncing around at all, dont even notice it after 5 mins, plus room for key, phone and about 3 gels if needed. Thats my sales pitch over :p

    Hi guys,

Just to update you all - I purchased the belt i originally asked about (http://www.runways.ie/store/product/5236/Nathan-Trail-Mix-Water-Belt/) in Elverys and got it for €33 - Used it yesterday on a 14 mile run and have to say you would not even know you had it on you, very comfortable and very east to remove and replace the waterbottles. I would highly reccomend it.

Thanks to everyone who gave advise on this.

Got mine on Suffolk street last Thursday and they had about 5 left on the racks but thats not to say that they didnt have more in stock. Price is €44.99 but less 26.2% (well thats what I got anyway so assuming the sale is still on you should get it for the same.
