Flexwing Microlight Flying near Carrick on Shannon?

Hi.

I'm interested in learning to fly flexwing microlights. Are there any schools or clubs near Carrick on Shannon where I can get lessons or shares in an aircraft if I learn elsewhere. Saw a flexwing buzzing around the other week so wandered where it came from.

seamey, you can train in Northern Ireland at Newtownards or I believe at a place near Tandragee which will probably be close enought for you.

There's also Irish Aerosport in Kilkenny. Both IAS in Kilkenny and Ulster Microlight Club in Newtownards (where I did my flexwing conversion) can do Irish licences.

Have you ever been up in one? Try it out - you'll love it!

Not sure where the one you saw would be flying from - it could have been based at a private strip near by or it could have been on a cross country flight from 60 miles away?

I hate digging up zombie threads but there's a couple of Microlights flying out of Trim. Are there lessons available there too or are the places mentioned the only places to get lessons?

Pretty sure there isn't but I am open to correction - I've been out of the loop lately, if you'll pardon the aerobatic pun.

Abbeyshrule or Newtonards probably your closest for microlighting lessons.
