Heard on my local radio (I assume it is nationwide) that Xtravision are doing half price midweek rentals, including on all new releases. I am not sure if it is just Wednesday nights or if it extends to say Tuesday/Thursday. I will be down to my local one later and will report back. If anyone has anymore concrete info then please post it. There was nothing I could see from a brief glance of their website.

times must be hard !! ...cutting the price for one day only..... why dont they do a €2 any movie a night deal - that'll get customers coming in and renting stuff.

Chartbusters do 2 New Releases for 2 nights for €6.

Very annoying how Extravision charge €5.75 for a new release meaning you have to break on a 10,20 etc..

Why not round it down to a fiver?

I got a new release for €2.67. It just half price on each individually for one night only as posters said above. Wednesday's only. How bad.

It does include box sets though which is pretty good. Got season 2 of the wire for a week for a fiver.

Went into xtravision in Finglas yesterday and got 3 new releases for 8euro for two nights. I cant remember if its normally 13or 11euro.

<edit>It was not advertised anywhere inside or outside the shop</edit>

i'd check on that the system wasn't able to put t for two nights...just check you might be mis informed...

I will ask them tomorrow. If thats the case I would have rather pay the extra for another night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,010 ✭✭✭arrianalexander

you cant pay for the extra night all you can do is pay the fine when you drop it back late...stupid i know! its ok when you two movies cos if you rent 2 and keep for two nights you pay with the fine something like 8.50 in total saving on the 9 euro deal

but if you take 3 and keep them for two nights you pay 11.50 ... 50c more then the 11 euro deal!

its a good idea just if should of been thought through more...what didn't help was we had no pos in store to advertise the deal...

The 3 for €8 2 nights is for 'recent releases' not 'new releases'.

DVD and games rental company Blockbuster filed for bankruptcy protection in the US today in an attempt to cut its one billion dollar debt mountain....

lol @ people paying 5.75 to rent a dvd.

Most new releases on amazon are £10 to BUY

Biggest problem any dvd rental store has to overcome is the downloading of new releases while there still in the cinema,
I think in time Xtravision will turn into another Harvey Norman/power city
unless they come up with a system where you can download a new release instore like they have in the US, i think it's Netflix....

I went to use it last Wednesday and was told it was over. They ran it only for two weeks but brought it to an abrupt end. The shop allowed me to rent the one I picked out for half price because the shop was told that if anyone asked to give it to them at half price just for last Wednesday, but that the offer was now over.
