I have only noticed this in the last few days since I updated to IOS4.1

My wifi seems to drop on & off all the time, when I put up the phone the wifi is off as i access an app like email it comes on, close it and it goes off again, so this killing the battery.

Any one else experience this? Dont think its the router as other wifi devices in the house dont seem to have a problem

When you lock the phone or it automatically goes into standby mode, wifi is switched off to save battery.

So when you wake the phone to go into mail or whatever, there will be a slight delay while your wifi connection comes back on.

    Is this what you're experiencing?

No, what is happening is this

I go into the RTE app, the 3G symbol changes to the wireless symbol, a few seconds later its back to 3G then back to wireless, then back to 3G and so on until the data loads up

That happens to me too, I just put it down to the phoen getting more 3G coverage than WiFi, I just turn off 3G when it does this and its fine

It only really happens when I'm far away from the router TBH, I'd only have one or two bars on the WiFi and it'd be loading really slowly, then it changes to 3G and it speeds right up

I'll give that a try but when I was looking at it today it was 2 foot from the router!

I am experiencing the same issue. I thought I am the only one who has this but there are many like me. So anyone knows what to do next?

Are you all on ios 4.1?

Since I've gotten ios4.1 on my 3gs i've been having serious battery problems so I just turn everything off until I need it. Its helping but its still not great.

You should also check the multitasking bar regularly to make sure you have all your apps shutdown fully. Apps working away in the background will eat the battery life as well.
