Can anyone personally recommend a good counselor in Dublin, for helping to deal with the repercussions of sexual abuse?

    Hi there,

I used Arduna in Clontarf, the woman i had was good and had a lot of experience, i went through a few therapists before her though in other places and i would advise that you ask the person how much experience they have and are they qualified in the sexual abuse area, finding a good therapist is very important, and i would recommend a psychotherapist. Also i would recommend a few paying place with people who are fully qualified, some of the free counseling places are not very good, i once had a guy who only had a 6 month counseling cert, he was very bad and messed me up cause i was only young and put a lot of trust in him.

Also there was a free group therapy in Clontarf called Laragh, it was a group therapy for women survivors of child abuse, i found it very good, mainly because i had been ostracized from my family because of the abuse and i was totally on my own, there where other girls who this had happened to as well and i saw a pattern within the families and how we were all treated, it really helped me to heal.

Best of luck OP, Toxic Parents is a great book for reading about abusive parents, and had great advice on confronting an abuser, Louise L Hay YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE - her book is also very good for healing.
