    Hey Guys,

I notice that threads on which GPS device is better and buying gps devices from the US have appeared in recent weeks. I'm even thinking of buying one myself after our course have allowed them for use in club & open competitions.

I'm wondering for those of you that have purchased a gps device, has it helped improve your overall game.
Are you hitting more GIR ?
    Have your scores lowered ?
And finally has it helped to lower your handicap and if so how much since you started using the gps?

I'm very interested to hear you feedback.
    Cheers,
    mccutchie

IMHO it will make a difference however you still have to hit the shot and we all know how us hackers have repeating swings and excellent control on our distances.

The biggest asset is knowing the distances to both the front and back of the greens.

It removes the distance guesswork and hence gives me the confidence that I have the right club in my hand and know what type of swing I need. However as alluded to by RGS you still have to hit the shot, however you can focus all of your attention on trying to hit a good shot as the gps has looked after everything else for you.

BTW what is your club mccutchie? Have you listed it on the sticky thread re gps friendly clubs?

The biggest advantage to me is from within 100 yards knowing distance to front and back of green. I'm not great on using my eye for this so takes the guessing/pacing out of the game.

    Not allowed in my club

Castletroy GC, added to the list

Ok so it removes the guesswork, and you still have to hit the shot, but from my experience and I play off 12, that 8 times out of 10, if you hit the green, your guanteed to come up short of the flag. Its very rare I or any of the guys I play with go beyond the flag with approach shots from 100 yards out. I'm hoping a device like this helps out

    Hi
I didnt believe in that these helped considerably until I played a casual round with a mate who has one! Having consulted the GPS, the distance was telling me 2 more clubs than the PW I had in my hand! I went with GPS device and my shot was pin high and 6ft from the pin! Im converted :D
