    Good evening all,
planning to buy a donut van and try to earn a living selling in markets. Everybody tells me is impossible to get a licence in Meath. Looking for advice from all of you. Anybody had same experience? Thank you for all help.

    Morning Michelle,

Can I ask which licence are you referring to ? trading/event licence or the HSE approval ?

Meath is certainly no different to any other county , and the guidelines for obtaining a licence are well published. Try contacting the licenceing staff before spending any money , they really are lovely people (Meath included!) and welcome questions about their specific area of expertise.

Aftr contacting my local County council I had 3 of the lads there helping me get though the red tape , they told me exactly what they wanted to see and even gave my Safety statement the once over with some additions.

pick up the phone , they don't bite , and don't listen to negativity,it's wasted thought. (whoever told you the licence was impossible was just trying to sound knowledgeable (sp))

I hope this lifts your spirits, I intend to collect my free donut when you are up and running.

    Fionn

Michelle, it could be worth casting your net a bit wider too. Places like the Aviva for the upcoming Rugby Internationals and the Point market in Dublin could be worth a look. The big wheel is drawing plenty punters down and Eddie Rockets seem to be doing well with their mobile burger bar there. Donuts could be good for afters! ( mine's a choccy one btw!)

Thanks SouthSider for advice. Amaze many events are going around the country and they are not advertised. IT industry can make a good profit on this... pity...:)

I saw a van at the Harvest Festival in Waterford last weekend and they were extremely busy. I reckon these type of market events you should be looking at. Very simple equipment in it is all you need.

It is like crepe vans in a way, minimal equipment, maximum profit. Thats the plan anyway!
