Are all factories paying QA bonus

    I sold 6 bullocks last week in the factory which were all under 30 months, less than 4 movements and Graded U's and R's so i assumed that i would get the 6 cent bonus automatically.

    it is not mentioned on the returns sheet so I assume I was not paid it or is it included in the price quoted on the sheet without actually stating it.

    can anyone advise on this?

    did you ring the factory or your agent and ask ?

    Kepak (Athleague) always detail bonuses paid etc. on the kill sheet they send back. Not all U's qualify for the QA - killed a bullock that graded U-2= and was surprisingly told he didn't qualify.

    Changing subject slightly, don't always trust the animal's card as regards movements; heard stories where cattle bought out of Connemara have been moved several times but the movements not been recorded on the card. If they're been moved off smaller farms or through dealers a few times they may not always write it down. The online AIM is a safer guide if you're not too sure.

    I sold bullocks to Meadow Meats, rathdowney a few weeks ago and they were all in spec for the bonus but it was not shown on the return sheet.

    I sold more last week so once I get the returns sheet this week, i will be on the phone to the agent/factory fairly lively I think. One of the bullocks this week was over the 30 months so I should be able to see if there is any difference between him and the others.

    for anyone that is a bit confused re the new grading system, just check out last weeks' Journal as it explains very clearly how the system works and whats eligible or not for the bonus.

    a neighbour of mine sent cattle to Moyvalley 2 weeks ago and they told him they didn't pay the bonus.

    I thought that all factories were obliged to pay it. why the hell are we in the Bord Bia scheme if factories can pick and choose if they want to pay it or not..........:mad::mad:
