    Hello,

    First timer here.

I'm thinking about going for a game of pitch and putt soon and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good pitch and putt course near Stillorgan/Leopardstown in Dublin? A mate of mine said there are a few up in Stepaside and one at Johnny Foxes but out of those two locations, Stepaside is probably more suitable.

I may be bringing a lady friend with me so I'd prefer to go to a nice one if possible. :)

I'm guessing they rent you an iron and a putter for the duration and some golf balls? Do you need to pre-book or can you just roll up whenever it's open and head out?

    Sorry for the newbie questions.

    Cheers.

you have Jamestown P&P,just outside Stepaside vilage on the right heading towards Kilternan,it's a good place to start, short holes from about 50-120 yards
next step up would be the Par 3 course which is part of Stepaside driving range, longer obviously ranging fron 60-150
think there might be another one but that's all i know
actually if your into the views Pucks Castle is nice, bit longer again so maybe leave that for a while, you can see Padraig Harringtons house from it,dirctions are tricky,pm me if you want them

it's members only afaik, that is what i would call a proper P&P course,no hole over 65 or 70 metres i think, however as they are part of the P.P.U.I(P&P union of Ireland)they keep the greens very well and if they did let you play if you were hackin around you would be headed on sharpish
there is a lovely short one on the Naas road that ppui that do allow greenfees but as above not for beginners, also Glenville on the Kiltipper road in Tallaght is a beut, greens like Augusta when it's full splender

Takes about 1/2 hour to get there once you get onto the dual carriageway at stillorgan

Fantastic course and at €15 at the weekends is well worth the money.
However it is a long way from a pitch and put course unless of course you can hit a pitching wedge 217 yards onto the second.

New par 3 in Marlay Park, synthetic greens and tees, takes a bit of getting used to, the greens are like lightning !!
