I got this virus at the weekend and it was really difficult to stop it loading.
Once it loaded if i then attempted opening anything the whole computer crashed and restarted.

Did you try renaming rkill as file.exe or something like that?
I found I had to open the renamed rkill the second that the laptop started or else the virus loaded before it and crashed the laptop when I tried to open it.

The only other technique I saw recommended while reading up on it was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UoV1C4NbfU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

They have a video for vista and windows 7 too.

I didn't try it myself as the rkill method worked for me.

After you have cleared the computer & run scans etc check that your virus scanner update featureand windows update will still work. Mine won't .:(

Try using either of these 2 bootable anti-virus CD's (the Avira one seems to work on more machines at the moment) :

Avira AntiVir Rescue System (download ISO image from here)

BitDefender Rescue CD (download ISO image from here)

Because you're booting directly from the CD, Windows is taken out of the equation and so running the antivirus checks can be more productive.
