    Hey,
I'm currently in 6th year and when I finish my leaving cert I hope to go on to study music and eventually become a music teacher. My question is what is music like in DIT?

Are the teachers good at what they do?
and is it as good as say Maynooth to study music?

    Cheers,
    Mark :)

I'm doing music education in DIT. Really enjoying it. Small course though, only 10 in my year, though you can choose to do just the music course which seems to have much more.

If you want to become a music teacher then I say go for BmusEd, has a good mix of practical musicianship and alo learning about the education side of things, history, syllabus and teaching methods.

Have had no problem with the lectures and the facilities are great, plenty of practise rooms and that. I think also because it is up in Rathmines, which is a somewhat smaller group, it feels more tight-knit, although being in a small course it's hard to get to know people in the normal Bmus degree or all the art and drama students about the place.

Can't compare it with Maynooth as I'm not in Maynooth, though the new music facilities over there are certainly worth a look as well.

    Thanks for the info :)
It seems good so and the fact that theres smaller classes means I could get more out of it :)
I just have one more question though. What points do you need to get into the course, i cant find it on the site? :O

Em, music education was 465 I think two years back, and then this year they went up to 480 or 485.
