WORKERS AT the Irish Examiner and Evening Echo newspapers have been told that their pensions could be cut by as much as 50 per cent after management revealed a €20 million deficit in the company’s defined-benefit pension fund.

Terrible stuff, you wonder if layoffs are coming? Tough sector to be in.

And to think someone's suggestion over on another thread (on how to save the economy or some such) was to put a one euro increase on the price of newspapers to increase the coffers for government
