Tax refund: few complicated (?) questions

    Hi guys,

    Finished working in one job in June this year and have started working for a university since the start of September.

    The university are going to pay me by cheque and it seems I will have to sort out the tax issues myself. At most they will be paying 5,000 euro for the rest of the year and probably much less than that.

    For a start I have asked for my P45 from my former employer. My particulars with them up to the end of June were:

    * Earnings YTD: 32,742 euros
    * Cumulative tax: 5,457 euros
    * PRSI: 2,145 euros
    Also pension levy, levy and pension.

    Have a few questions if you could help:

    1) How should I go about sorting out the tax I will owe for my new job? Should I just call in to the revenue office when I get paid and declare it to them?

    2) Will I be entitled to any tax back for the year if I earn 5,000 more at most on top of the 32,742

    3) How should I go about it claiming back this tax if 2) is the case?

    Thanks in advance and advice much appreciated :)
