Does Wifi have priority over 3G on iPhone 4 ?

    How do I know if my iPhone is using the 3G data or Wifi ?

    Do I need to turn off 3G for the wifi to take proirity or will the phone auto use wifi if connected over 3G ?

    Yes! Wifi will always get first preference.

    I've found this to be very erratic, eg currently my phone is showing connected to wifi in settings but indicating 3G usage. Can't seem to cope with moving between wifi networks too well. Keep having to reset it..

    Agreed. Even to the point that the Planet 3/My3 page on Three network will not load, until after you have disconnected from WiFi. It will only open when connected to cellular network only.

    I think the Wifi is taking priority as I just downloaded about 20mb worth of apps and they dont appear under the data usage menu.

    Wifi definitely takes priority over 3G. Not only because 3G can incur costs, wifi is usually faster, more reliable and less of a battery drain, that's why it gets priority.

    so that page is not available if your on wifi? Seems bad planning by 3.
