At last started to go though some of the pictures that I took at Portsmouth Navy Days 2010 back at the end July. Maybe of interest to some on here. First RFA Argus a huge AirTraining and Casualty recieving ship. It has 3 fully operational operating theatres, 10 intensive care beds and a 100 bed hospital.

HMS Dauntless. We weren't shown too much of this ship in the back straight through and out. No photo's allowed inside the ops room although I accidently took one but won't post it here just in case as they were very serious about that.

    Brilliant photos, thanks Vulcan.

RFA Argus is an amazing ship, a distinct absence of sticks to bite down on as they cut off your leg with a rusty saw. Oh how a ships surgery has changed:D

I love the type 45, they look like cold, efficient killing machines.

    These days, mostly Oregon.

BTW, did I mention that the pix were great? Quite a few of them, IMO, are good enuff to use on a RN calendar. Have you thought of submitting them to the MoD [RN] PR office?

    Best

That's it, I knew it reminded me of something. I've shot loads of them in the arcade game :D

Incidentally, i was looking at the RFA Argus site and apparantly it started life as the "Contender Bezant" and was used in the falklands, before being converted by Harland and Wolfe into what she is today

That is quite a conversion job.

Submarines are located at Rosyth, Devonport and Faslane.

The RN's submarines are usually nukes these days, and not normally usually open to public viewing, especially those based at Faslane. Of course, you can try and get on board for a look around, but you'll also be shot dead where you stand within 50m of any of the Trident subs, which can be quite off-putting.

There is a decommissioned submarine museum at Gosport.
