i had a root canal on one tooth on the top right hand side and i got a filling replaced in the bottom row on the same side. that was all approx 6 months ago. i have had constant pain in my right ear since setting these done.

my tooth that i got root canal in is still causing me pain. i have gone back to dentist a few times since and after x-rays etc he says there is nothing wrong with the teeth. however my doctor says i do not have a ear infection.

dentist says that the pain i sometimes experience in the bottom tooth and surrounds is due to root exposure in back bottom tooth further back. and he advised that i put sensitve toothpaste on it. does not work. (x-rays dont show any problems with this tooth either) however i can remember when he was filling in that tooth feeling a sharp pain during the filling (as if a nerve was hit)

i really can not cope with the pain anymore, can anyone offer any advise/help.

Go see a different dentist. The professional advice you get is only as good as the professional - in this case, your current dentist.

poor you nothing worse than dental pain and 6 months is a long time. Would get a 2nd opinion though or go back to dentist. Uncontrolled pain can be harder to manage the longer it is left. creates a chronic pain syndrome that can be left over even once the source is established and treated.

Dentists that specialist in difficult cases of pain from are endodontists, there are also facial pain specialists that deal with pain from non dental causes in your face. Your general dentist can refer if you wish.
