Ankle injury help

I've been starting to go jogging regularly (1-5 times a week), at first I was wearing old and worn out thin runners which I felt where starting to hurt my feet. I bought a pair of running runners and since then my ankles seem to be in agony. Its ok when I'm jogging but when I stop jogging I feel like my ankles start to get tight and really sore, so sore that I can't move them. I went to the chemist and bought bandage sock (thingys) and wore them all day yesterday and today. I tried jogging again today and was in agony afterwards, above my heel and toes are the spots that seem to hurt most when I put pressure on them. The pain is undescribable!!

Is this just a change in runners and should I continue to run?
or have I injured my feet and relax for a couple of days?

After awhile the pain seems to ease and I can walk again.
