Electric Underfloor Heating

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience and/or feedback in relation to Electric Underfloor heating ?

I have the finished floors of my house poured, but the fllor tiles, carpets or wooden floors have not been laid yet.

I heard of a 'mat' that can be laid on top of the finished floor and immediately under the tiles to provide underfloor heating.

I am only think of putting it into two upstairs bathrooms. I have pre-cast slabs, so it will be going down on top of 4 inches of screed that is the finished floor and 6 inches of slab (no insulation between slab and screed on the fist floor).

Is this type of underfloor heating worth going with ? Is it expensive ? (one bathroom is 2.7M X 2.6M and the en-suite is 1.5M X 4M)
    Is it efficient etc

    Thanks,
    S

I know all i need to know about it....

What do you want to know....

    Is it good....yes!

Is it expensive.... No... shop around.

Will it heat the bathroom.... No.

Will it heat all the floor....generall no.

How is it supplied...Usually in matt format with a stat.timer

Who applies it... an electrician just before the tiler or a bathroom fitter.

Is it expensive...it can be expensive on electricity if it has a hunting stat.

Would i buy it.... Yes...Did i now...why not...cause i did not have the money but have plenty of towels.

    Whats its downfall...if fitted right...none...

It is nice to have but expensive to run. Not good if you have a pipe issue underneath that needs to be excavated.

    .

Which begs the question.. Whats the point? If it doesnt heat all the floor and doesnt heat the airspace?

I think your looking for the devi mat.

It does work well as I have seen it installed in a number of properties. I do not have any insight into running costs

I know why his bill was expensive. It had a hunting stat instead of being on a timed circuit. Devi used hunting stats... This made them expensive/

Make sure your mat is on a timer and only turn it on at shower time etc...

Outside that its not expensive.... Haveing said that i am not trying to sell it.
