Data Usage and Low Cost Contract

    Hi,

I wouldn't mind dipping my toes into the smartphone market. I currently pay €20 a month for my contract which is more than adequate for my needs. I sure as hell don't want to be paying €40 a month just so i can use the net etc, and show off apps or whatever.

So, i see three's plan for €25 a month, which gives the 300 flexi units. Just splitting this between calls and texts equally gives about 5 times the amount that O2 offer for €20. I would never get through that many minutes/texts in a month. Therefore you can use the balance for data services, say 80mb per month.

Three reckons each 500kb is circa 17 webpages - is that true? Its the GPS service I would like most of all, but if i just looked up the very occasional website, checked yahoo mail once/twice a week, is that amount of data usage sufficient?

Thinking of getting the x10mini pro or something, but very wary of an 'always on' internet type connection racking up massive bills, for something that i am not all that interested in... For example, I see HTC Wildfire seems to flash up facebook posts by someone who is calling you - this kind of stuff must be using up data usage all the time, but is it really really miniscule?? I would use my PC for downloading music and stuff.

    Any thoughts appreciated!

    Thanks
