    Hi

I am looking to buy a designer bag for my girlfriends birthday but have no idea where to start. I am looking to spend €250-€300 - is there anywhere I can get something for this price?

    Thanks

depends on how designer you want to go - does it have to be a big name brand? the big designers - mulberry, prada etc - you'd need three or four times that budget.

DKNY is probably your best bet for name recognition in that price bracket. You might get a small Marc by Marc Jacobs bag though I think they are closer to 400.

House of Fraser, Arnotts and BT (though they may no longer do so) have a fantastic Italian brand called Coccinnelle, I have three beautiful bags from them that I adore, roughly 220 for a bag big enough for work.

ETA - I don't trust online for designer goods, though if you bought from a store like saks or something you can be confident it's real

Are you looking to buy online or in a shop?

    Online:

    http://www.net-a-porter.com/
    http://www.theoutnet.com/
    http://www.karenmillen.com/
    http://www.harveynichols.com/

    In a shop:

    Brown Thomas
    Harvey Nichols

Not sure where you are located but Juicy Couture are in Kildare Village Outlet....maybe worth a try if you're passing by. They generally do material (furry, soft) bags but last time I was there they had a lovely leather one too, more practical for Irish weather.

Have a look in tkmaxx if there is one near you, the bigger stores now have a vip section with the higher end designer stuff all together so you dont have to search through tons of stuff. Is there a particular designer she likes?

Thanks for the help guys, plenty of places to look. She doesn't own any designer bags at the moment so I've no idea which she prefers but I'll take a look in these places and hope for the best !!! Cheers

There are some leather DKNY bags available in BT at the moment which should come in at your price range. Good luck with the hunt. There's nothing nicer than a swishy handbag.

You could also consider brands like Ted Baker - they do high quality bags. I have a purple patent bag in soft leather from Ted Baker that I love.

I think a trip to Kildare Village might also be an idea. You have Anya Hindmarch, DKNY, Bally, Juicy Couture, Karen Millen, Ted Baker and more down there. So you should be able to pick up a bag for less.

I actually bought a bag from this crowd:

    www.loloandlulu.com

They are based in Dublin and selling Argentinian leather, well yeah the price was good- sub 300 and the quality was unbelieveable!

Beautiful leather and a very up and coming brand hence the price. I would get one now before their prices start going up because the leather was so good.
