Ps3 is Blocked!

Ok so I moved back up to college this year, and this time I brought my ps.
As with last year there's a username/password on the network, and it's limited to 1 connection, after that the account needs to be unlocked so I can't have my ps and my laptop on at the same time... :(

I can go online perfect on my laptop. I try to set everything as automatic on the playstation , and it won't sign into the PsN saying the connection timed out : (80028E06). When I go into the internet browser, I'm prompted for my username/password, once I enter those it's fine. !The problem is that if I go online on my playstation, I can't go online on my laptop at all , until I get the account unlocked. Obviously laptop > ps for college work.

I tried to copy the Ip adress and all the laptop info (when it's online) using "ipconfig/all" in CMD in Windows. I typed this all into the playstation and it's still blocked, "Your MAC address is blocked".

Is it possible to bypass their restrictions by assigning my ps the same info as my laptop and "tricking" them into thinking my ps3 is in fact my laptop?

Can you describe your setup a bit better? Does the PS3 have it's own wired connection, or do you have your PS3 connected wired to you laptop? Or is it on wireless?

If you haven't already tried it I would try connecting your PS3 wired to your laptop and sharing the laptops internet connection with the PS3. However from the sounds of it I'm not sure even this would work if the college system will only allow a specific IP address.

You'd probably be better off just buying a router and having both your laptop and PS3 sitting behind it. I had a similar problem when I was in college as it used the MAC address of the device connecting to the network to determine what you could use. I just picked up a Linksys WRT-54GL, flashed it with the Tomato firmware, set the MAC address on the router to be the one recognised by the connection and was then free to have as many devices connected as I pleased.

    That's... actually amazing, much respect.

can also connection share with the laptop via ethernet cable. easily done and means both use the same connection

There's only 1 ethernet port on my laptop though.

@ First poster, there's a wired connection going into the laptop. As it's the laptop that's connected to the network first, the account with the username/pass is locked to my laptop's MAC address. The ps3's MAC is different, and when I try to connect, it says your MAC address is blocked.
