I'm getting very sick of finding 30+ spam emails in the account every morning. At first it did'nt seem to be that many, but lately over the past few weeks the spam has gotten worse.

Im using win 7 64 bit.

What can I do(thats easy for a noob) that will prevent me from getting these stupid spam emails?

    cheers

Are you using an email client such as outlook express/outlook/thunderbird ?

Tag the emails you receive as junk and they will be redirected to your junk mail folder

Spam usually happens when spammers get hold of your email address, often because it was published online, or sold on from a dodgy subscription.
It's best not to open emails from people you don't know, or anyone who has no business knowing your email address.

One option is to start afresh.

You can sign up for a new hotmail or gmail and use the new one instead. remember to inform your contacts.

gmail comes with it's own spam filter.

You can use an email client to send/receive email outside of a web browser.

Anyway, I would reccommend using GMAIL also...the spam filter is fantastic. In addition, you can set your gmail account to retrieve your hotmail emails so you wont miss any emails (not everyone will know about your gmail at first)

I have an eircom.net account which is spam city. I signed up for gmail and set it to retrieve my eircom email...haven't looked back since.

I don't know if hotmail does spam filtering (I use gmail), but I had some emails for prescriptions online that gmail wasn't picking up on, so I set it to set those with 'docter' (yes they spelt in wrong) to filter straight to my spam box. You could try this op if you see a common subject line popping up and up again.

I get 10 or so junk emails a day with hotmail and its hardly ever that any leak into my inbox.

Just make sure to mark each one as junk when it arrives and this will train hotmail to move similar messages to junk in the future.

When you're in the message, press "CTRL + SHIFT + J". This will mark it as spam and move the message to the junk folder.

Create a new hotmail account. And stop using your email address on dodgy sites....

I have been using hotmail for years and never get spam.

the only way to stop spam is to not open any of the spam mails. spam senders know if the mail gets opened so if you open none you will find that after a couple of weeks the spam will start to die out but you will never stop spam completly bar changing your hotmail address

spam spam :pac:am spam spam spam spam spam
