Brother's 1st Wedding anniversary - Gift?

    Hey all,

did a quick search but all threads seemed to be from wives.

Brother got married last year, his first year anniversary is this year (shocker!), and it'll be in a few weeks I do believe.

What way am I standing here? Do you normally give a gift for this or is it generally just between the wife/husband? I'd like to give a gift either way; i don't like to be a cheap git, so was just looking for ideas.

Was thinking money in a card, but then I wouldn't know how much to give and it can potentially be a bit awkward with money. On the other hand, it's the easiest option.

Anyone got any ideas? Something practical would be nice.

Cheers to anyone able to help out :)

Traditionally the first anniversary is the paper anniversary. I arranged photographs for my husband, we did a trash the dress shoot and he bought plane tickets for me. Anyone who gave is gifts gave us money but I think we may have gotten 2 if not 3 anniversary gifts the first year. We are not even married 3 yrs and the second year we didnt really gift each other so definitely did not expect any from anyone else.

For my brother's first anniversary, because its meant to be paper, I got both their family crests done up next to eachother and framed, so his surname, and her maiden name. They thought it was really nice.... I'd ask them if they want to make a big deal of it - Our whole family went out for a meal to celebrate their anniversary so a gift was not out of place, but they may want to celebrate privately.

How about tickets to a show/concert/gig? Still involves paper for the 1st wedding anniversary.
