Small wedding venue in Ireland - for 50?

    Hello

We're getting married in Ireland. No date yet but will be roughly July - November 2011 (most likley one of the later months). It will be small - about 50 guests.

The nearby church has to be catholic and for venue we're just looking for something nice, with area for band and dance floor etc.

We live in Dublin, but venue can be anywhere in Ireland really.

    Any suggestions?

Could you be more specific please?

What kind of a wedding do you want? e.g. castle wedding, hotel, etc? What min standard does your hotel have to be, e.g. 5 star?

We're open minded to be honest - would like a hotel, maybe 4 star...

Pretty sure that Cahir House is not a 4 star.

I think your idea of having a small wedding with 50 guests is really lovely. It makes sure all your nearest and dearest are there to celebrate with you and not some relatives you met once when you were 6! Inch House in Co. Tipperary is a lovely setting. It often caters for weddings of this size and it definatly ticks all the boxes. Fantastic elegant / delicious food. Beautiful old country house. Good Gardens (Photos!) Extremly nice and helpful staff! Not too expensive. Good luck and congratulations where ever you decide to spend your day!

We had our wedding here a few weeks ago.
It's perfect for a small wedding (we had 34 people)
Can't recommend them enough. We had a ball.
Food is top notch, Paul the chef will discuss it in detail with you.
The grounds are fantastic and if you were to have a wedding on a Monday or Tuesday, you would have the whole place to yourselves!

Was at a friends wedding in the Olde Post in Cavan and the food was excellent. Lovely intimate venue.

If you're willing to travel as far as West Cork, the Rectory in Glandore is a beautiful venue in an absolutely stunning location and the personal service is second to none.

It depends on what you want to negotiate I'd imagine. On certain things, they won't budge. eg - corkage.

    The venue itself is outstanding.
They have the cafe and for bigger functions, a large downstairs room.
The cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday. So booking that out during those days is X amount as you are basically closing the restaurant to the public.

Downstairs can be used instead if you wish, but they charge more for that room. Hence my suggestion of using the cafe on a Monday or Tuesday.
We had our wedding there on a Monday as it was cheaper and it was fantastic having such a space all to ourselves.
We had a short ceremony which we held in the courtyard outside.

The Shackleton House is included in the price. It's a wonderful place to stay for the night.
They have a certain amount of rooms around the grounds for guests to stay, so you can basically hang out all night together if ye wish without disturbing anyone.
    I didn't get to bed until 5am. :)

Our two reasons for picking this venue:
Paul, the chef, can cook. He did us an excellent 7 course tasting menu (we're foodies and wanted a banquet), it was top notch.
    The venue is magical.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer if I can.

You don't mention where you are based but the anglers rest would be perfect for 50 if in Dublin area. Also consider Beaufield mews and finnstown house (front part)

We ended up getting married in Tankardstown House. It was awesome, but expensive enough.
