Registering a US Import

    Hi guys,

Hopefully a straightforward question. I have the offer of a classic merc at a good price that was imported from the US and never registered. In terms of documents there is the equivalent of a US logbook with the car and thats it.

What will the VRT office require in order for me to register it? Will i have to produce proof that import taxes were paid or something. What would that look like?

    WK

I don't believe the VRT office are concerned with other taxes and duties payable. Those are normally payable on entry (i.e. before the car leaves the port).

Their job is to register the car and give you a plate number. Once you have a logbook with matching numbers there should be no difficulty.

What car? Over 30 years? Pics? :)

You will have to bring it to your local friendly applus+ Centre Of Excellence so they can have a snoop around it....

The VRT office are now closed, the NCT center are now taking care of this.

And you need to bring a couple of document, but I can't find back the right link.

Maybe somebody else has the link

I am doing mine next week, you need shipping documents and the vehicle title transfer documents.

Also ensure that you can show the inspector the chassis number.
