I have my iPad a couple of months now and I don't think I am really getting the most out of it, mainly because I don't have a case so I am not taking it around with me as I go.

Wondering what people are using to carry theirs around, in the house and outdoors.
    Any recommendations?

Dodo Case. For those who like the whole moleskine thing.

Mine arrived today. They are handmade and ship from San Francisco.

I tried the Belkin Leather Folio, until I could get my hands on the official Apple case. The Belkin is nicer when closed, but the iPad slips a little within the case, sometimes obscuring the screen around the edges. The Apple case is great for leaving the screen free, but does look and feel a little odd in the hand. I never use the stand "feature", but it is my preferred case. I tried most of the other folio type cases when buying and didn't really like others.

The dodocase above does look nice ... reminds me of www.sfbags.com and the handmade bags and cases they make. Also, San Fran based imports.

    How is the I
pad held in place in this cover?would it survive a drop and remain in place?

I got tha advanced pro leather case/luxuary wallet for ipad on amazon.co.uk. Crazy name I know.it was 29.99.I think it's excellent. I use the stand quite a bit a find the extra options for tilting it that the stand offers very useful for typing, watching films and also the most comfortable way to leave it sitting on my lap when I'm using the Internet. The stand is also surprisingly sturdy.
The case adds a bit of bulk to the ipad but it feels protectied in it.I'm very happy with it. It's quite like the ecocase ,down to the little magnetic stand flip at the back.

There's a wooden frame made to fit the iPad snugly and it has rubber bungs in each corner which are pressed in and provide grip when the iPad is in the case. When the case is closed, you also have a classic moleskine black elasticated band that keeps the cover closed.

I think it might stay in the case if you dropped it but I am not prepared to test! There does not seem to be much in the way of padding in the case. I'd say the survival of your iPad would be very dependent on length of drop and floor surface.
