Asking landlord to sign bank receipt

    Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move if necessary.

    Basically I'm just moving into an apartment where I'm renting a room off the owner-occupier.

    I'm going to pay the rent in cash into her bank a/c each month.

    I was thinking that after I pay it each month, I'll ask her to sign the lodgement stub from the bank just as evidence that she received the money.

    Will she see me requesting this as being a bit cheeky?

    The lodgement slip in itself, as long as the bank's stamp is on it, is proof you paid the money into her account. As long as you don't use the quick lodge method (because you don't get a stamp on the lodgement slip) you won't need any further proof of payment.

    I own my own place and rented a room for a good few years. I bought a receipt book and issued one to my lodger every month when they paid rent.
    I don't see a problem in asking. As above poster said stamped stub of lodgment is sufficient as proof of payment.

    I don't think its cheeky, if you were provided with a rent book they'd have to sign it anyway. Only problem might be availability if they were away or something.

    You could set up a standing order to transfer the funds direct from your account to hers, you'll always have a record then and should be able to assign a name to the transaction so you can always keep track and works as proof of payment (handy if you ever lost the stub or slips from bank)
