    Hi all. I have an idea for a safety product which would be used in the auto industry. I have googled everywhere and cannot find anything similar. Are there any sites etc on which i can ask experts advice?

    You would probably want to carry out a patent search rather than Google, before you go any further to make sure there isnt a similar idea out there

    Patent search is worth a go. One place to start is

    http://www.freepatentsonline.com/

    In general, it helps to build some sort of prototype. The actual practicalities of the thing may make it easier to understand the commercial side (i.e., would anyone want to actually buy this thing) as well as giving you ideas about what to search for in patent databases.
