depends on your tv and laptop connections. does your tv and laptop have vga/hdmi connections? for vga, you'll need an additional cable if you want sound coming out of your tv.

yeah TV has HDMI connections and on the TV is a connection for 'PC in' so presume it is computer compatable, as for me, im not very good with computers, would i be better of paying some genius kid to do it or try myself

    "PC In" is probably VGA.

Does it look something like this

If you have one of these ports on your laptop as well then all you need is a male to male VGA cable, and a male to male 3.5mm audio cable if you want audio.

If your laptop has HDMI out then this would of course be the best to use.

Set resolution to 1024x768, set pc graphics, output,to 60mhz refresh rate.
SEE www.svideo.com info re cables, settings etc
your tv manual will say whats the accepted pc input resolutions, i prefer to use vga for pc to hdtv input.Change font size to large or larger size as you prefer for tv use.
google pc graphics propertys change refresh rate.
