Im in fifth year and Im planning to attend TCD. I was looking at some of the tours in TCD over the Open House Dublin Weekend. I was just wondering what the Common Room & Loos Bar

My brother is in second year, so I asked him. He’s never heard of it. What is it, and is open to students, or just fellows

    Thanx xxx

Membership restricted to academic staff. The Common Room is located over the entrance lobby to the Dining Hall. The bar is also located on the first floor of the building. The Open House tour must be one of the very rare occasions when undergrads would have the opportunity to view the place.

The only way in to see it is via the open house tour on culture night

Its tiny, 4 tables, no draught beer, just bottles. It closes at 2:30pm! The ceiling is most impressive, despite its size it actually feels a lot bigger inside.

Had the absolute pleasure of buying a bottle of wine there once.

Membership of the Senior Common Room is open to all academic staff. Ranges from post-doctoral researchers to the Provost. Administrative staff beyond a certain level (senior executive officer and above) can also be members.

Definitely the only way to attend the ball!
