I have just received a Bold 9700 as my free uk upgrade and was wondering if anyone had experience with using a SIM only month to month blackberry plan on the Irish networks.

You wont get to use the blackberry services. You will be able to email and browse the net, but not the way you would normally.

Could you elaborate on that? I'm not sure what you mean

You need to have the blackberry plan to get all the blackberry services, email, messenger etc. These wont work without it, and you need to signup to billpay to get plan.

Just got a PM from a user who was in the same position as I am a few weeks ago.

So incase anyone else is wondering, you could take a sim only plan if you already have an existing blackberry handset and choose blackberry add ons with o2 or three.

Or, you could take a blackberry specific plan with vodafone.

Well maybe things have changed and im wrong. I would love to know if you get any one of the companies to give you the addon without a contract

Still wonder why Blackberry insist on having a subscription, really like their phones but any plan I find is not worth my while, even in other countries. The Uk seems to be the only place where they are value for money, for a typical €20/30 a month student user
