Hi I was doing a lot of running - mountain and road - but injured myself by over doing it. I've been off for nearly 5 weeks and am just starting to train again. This time however I want to do it right. I'm planing to run the Connemara marathon so I have over 6 month and was wondering if any one had a good 6 month training schedual in Kms.
    Cheers

You could try Pfitzinger and Douglas Advanced marathoning book, which has a 24 week program (If I remember correctly). Personally I found that 24 weeks was too long, so my own preference would be to follow a solid 10k program (and stretch the long runs to longer than the program suggests) and then launch into an 18 week marathon program.

Cheers Krusty - that sounds like a plan.
Though I've done a fair bit of running I'm new to the idea of Farltex/interval training. Do many people incorporate this into their training? And if you dont have access to a gym is sprint - walk the main way of doing it?

There's a whole raft of plans available on the Runner's World web site but think they're all 16 weeks long, some of them can be downloaded to a Garmin watch so are very handy if you have one. Been following one myself & will find out next w/end how well it works (or not!).

I did the Fartlek bits of the training plan by just picking some random thing in the distance & then running faster 'til I got to it & then dropping back to a slower pace, repeat as needed. Iinterval training was a mix of a running track for the shorter ones (eg 12x400m) and along the road/park for the longer ones (eg 5x1m).
