I enjoyed it overall. Very disapointed with the treatment of the Harts though. Enjoyed the stories of kane and taker and miz and bryan. Great win for Bryan too, they must want to push him anyway

Did orton celebrate with the crowd?
Or in the sense of celebrating at all?

If he did it could be a full face turn so.
If not I see absolutely no reason to any good coming from him winning.

    As for the others winning:
    1. Baratt winning could've been a nice surprise, even if it was only for 24 hours.
    2. Jericho is now, essentially gone, sniff.
    3. Well at least it wasn't cena, thatd be a little worse.
(as long as orton doesn't start feuding with him.)

    And in other news..

Where was the sense of having show go over punk?!

Well he's been more or less squashing the SES for the last few months so why change things? Good show overall but not great and not particularly memorable despite the title changes. Kofi/Ziggler was decent but I'm numb to seeing them wrestle. Punk/Show was fine. Miz/Bryan was good but not great and Miz still lacks a match so good that makes me say he's ready for the main event.

Kane/'Taker was tedious, boring and dragged. The problem with these two is the feud and storylines are normally very good but the matches just don't deliver. The Tag title match was filler and I'm disappointed to see the Harts drop the belts in the way they did. The main event was good. Good show but nothing special or must see.

Surely the time to end the fued was the last ppv when he squashed them again?

kinda makes sense though in as much as HIAC is in 2 weeks so there isnt much time to build something new. Barett vs Cena can be easily booked and as a 1on1 will actually be somewhat fresh. Plus if Cena puts Barett over it could give back some much needed momentum after the Summerslam loss.

I can't see baratt going over cena at HIAC.
unless the whole long term goal of nexus has been revealed, or has that been just abandoned altogether?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,054 ✭✭✭D.Q

Why is HIAC in two weeks?

Having slept on it, I think this has been one of the better pay per views this year. I know Seamus wasnt booked strongly during his reign, but ah well. Orton has been burying people week in week out, but he's by far the most over person on the roster, it does make alot of sense to give him the strap. He's the most popular wrestler on raw, and gets by far the best reactions from the crowd week in week out.

Austin was the same for hitting the stunner on people every week. With the exception of a few people, hhh, the rock, taker. The only problem for Orton is, the rest of them are nowhere near as popular as he is. Except maybe Cena, and that feud is boring and stale unless Cena takes a heel turn.

As far as I can see it, no one else has earned enough reaction from the crowd to hold the title except Cena or Orton. As much as I like Seamus, and think hes improving. I think Im a little biased towards him. Its easy to forget how much Orton has improved, and how popular he is.

He didnt go looking for this approval and popularity remember? and as he was just getting popular we were all cheering him and saying how great he was. Now that the kids are cheering him too, people seem to be changing their minds and almost begrudging him being put over so strong myself included. But the more I think about it, it makes sense...Thats how you make the big stars. Obviously from the response to him, the crowd are most interested in him. At least now, we have a champion who deserves to be champion and hopefully a champion who wont receive lukewarm boos the way Seamus was.

Hopefully now, his popularity will keep building. And hopefully they will use his popularity to build up someones UNpopularity. But its wwe so thats a massive hopefully. Knowing them, Orton will come out tonight on raw and be the all american, never give up hero.

i actually enjoyed that ppv i have to say, divas match while not all that technically amazing was one to look at, i loved miz/bryan.....with bryan lookin an absolute star, shows he can carry a match and made miz look good (that clothesline of the top rope was immence) kofi/ziggler and taker/kane were what we expected, same matches with a few decent spots to keep us interested to i have no problem with that. Punk is AMAZING on the mic, and should have gone over! Tag Team match was a bit of a cluster f*ck but at least it looks like they may be trying to build a tag division once again which i am all for. 6 Pack challenge was a decent match, barret getting the pin on cena was great, and ithink orton and sheamus have chemistry together and could have a proper match if they were allowed (not like the last ppv mind you), HIAC should be interesting (rumoured match being orton/sheamus)

Overall i was impressed, thought it was fairly good, especially in comparison to the turd sandwiches we have seen in the past!

Good show. Happy to not have paid for it though.

-CM Punk -v- Big Show was boring
-Kane - Undertaker was brutal. I'm now on the anti-Kane bandwagon

-Bryan -v- Miz was one of the matches of the year so far
-6 way was pretty great. Loved how they made a big deal out of Jericho leaving. Right man won.
    -Kaitlyn is very attractive.

I can see Orton losing the title back to Sheamus again at HIAC. It is ABC booking really: Have the biggest babyface go on a months-long quest for the title, culminating in victory at WrestleMania. I hope that's the plan anyway because otherwise it was an absolute waste having Ortons victory coming in a 6-man at a B-level PPV. If its just a short reign where the title is stolen away from him again in 2 weeks then I think that its a good move.

Enjoyed the PPV. Really enjoyed Miz v Bourne and Kofi v Ziggler.

CM Punk is wasted fighting Show. But he was still impressive. Was Scot, Punks buddy that Stryker mentioned Colt Cabana?

Oh why couldn't show have re-retired instead of Jericho?

Harts were made into a bigger joke than ever, which is a shame, Tyson is Class and DH has improved.

    Laycool double Champs - Yay

6 pack was a good match.

i thought i was a ppv last night. just turned on sky sports too see it wasn't. now i'v too watch it with the ads put into it.:(

Why is everyone assuming Jerichos retiring? He'll definitely be back either way, so i dont mind if he does, in fact i think it would do him good. But theres no guarantee he will...

I know Cole was saying about his promise to win the belt or retire, but then Striker made a point of saying, "he retracted that statement"

No probs man. The replay of Night of Champions is on now:) The next PPV (Hell in a Cell) is on Box Office.

It wasn't a bad PPV but the main event finish depressed me.

    Ziggler vs Kofi -

Alright match but I've seen this match too much to care a great deal. Kaitlyn is easy on the eyes so it was a shame she was sent packing. Surprised Ziggler won. Hopefully this is the end of this feud.

CM Punk vs Big Show -

I enjoyed Punk getting the hometown hero reaction. The match was pretty uninspiring though. Maybe they wanted to protect Show's popularity by keeping it pretty brief. Average match.

Miz vs Daniel Bryan - :D

Seeing The Miz tap out like the goof that he is puts a big smile on my face. Good win for Bryan and hopefully that generic music won't last long either.

    Melina vs McCool - :p

I missed this match but the right girls won.

    Kane vs Undertaker -

This feud does nothing for me in 2010 I'm afraid. Pleased that Kane won, although I guess the feud continues so maybe I shouldn't be. Poor feud, unspectacular match.

Tag team title gauntlet thingy - :(

Feel a bit bad for the Hart Dynasty as they could have gotten a far bigger push from the Bret association of a few months back. This match highlighted two things for me - 1) the tag team division in WWE sucks 2) They have no interest in changing that fact.

Sheamus vs Jericho vs Edge vs Cena vs Barrett vs Poor man's Austin Orton -

Good match with a disappointing finish. Jericho's early loss surprised me. Edge went too early too imo. There was a moment after Cena went when he had the chair and was outside the ring watching Orton about to RKO Barrett when I thought to myself 'Are they going to pull the trigger on the Cena heel turn and have him hit Orton?' I was gutted Sheamus got beat as I felt his title reign has been great and feel he has improved every week. They are pushing Orton heavily as a babyface which I don't agree with. I like Orton as a heel. As a babyface I feel it doesn't work. He can't cut effective, interesting babyface promos and all he has is a cool finishing move. At some point, hitting that every week will get stale. It already has for me. I'm interested in seeing how they book him with the title as I think it will be challenging and, ultimately, will fail if he has it for a long time.

Overall, I'd rate this as a thumbs in the middle effort. Not worth going out of your way to see if you missed it.

I think Sheamus losing the title is the best thing for him. Chances are, it'll be him and Orton at HIAC. The past few months, Sheamus has been made to look weak. Now as the challenger, he can really take it to Orton to get his title back.

Hate that Rhodes and McIntyre won the tag titles. Hate these random teams thrown together, and to beat an established tag team makes neither team look good. Why not put in some of the actual tag teams like The Dudebusters, or Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins (I know they're a fairly random team too, but at least they've been tagging for a while)

Kane winning was fairly obvious, HIAC may be a different story.

Divas match, couldn't give a crap

Glad Bryan got the US title, hopefully see some good matches out of it. Some defences on Raw would be fantastic. Defences which wouldn't require any buildup but can still provide great matches.

Ziggler V Kofi, glad Ziggler retained, but he needs to start defending against someone else now. Hopefully Kaval, or like with Daniel Bryan, some good enough matches could be had with the likes of Christian, Masters etc

Punk should have beat Big Show. Nuff said I reckon

    This, this, this.

I'm actually glad the belts are off Hart Dynasty - and onto Smackdown guys come to think of it - but I misled myself that a Nexus pair would get them and use the Spirit Squad Freebird Rule. :(

The RKO on Sheamus was botched as was the STF on him

Edge and Jericho went out way too early for me

first one i watched in ages...

    good ppv..

they made orton , if he didnt win it then noone would have believed he ever could...he has been so close so many times...hopefully he doesnt go full on baby now...

they MADE the miz..savage match from him and the vanilla guy...miz is a star and looked like a far bigger star than bryan...hopefully onwards and upwards for him now...

    No idea.
I think they just wanted to get both on the PPV, and very few people go over Show these days.

I don't know why Big Show and his punch have been pushed so hard over the last year. It's not like he draws any money. Maybe they're just completely hard-up for main eventers.

But who'll pay to see :
    Big Show vs Kane
    Big Show vs Undertaker
    Big Show vs Punk
Is Mysterio around? That might draw some curiosity buys......just not in the main event....

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,521 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Because he always wins with the big punch Big show match always leaves me feeling empty. Its hard to get into the match as you know the big punch is comeing. I though the match at night of champions was going well before the end came.
Everything else he does is great, but actual matches, serious let down!

Its a pity they didn't let punk beat him, Punk got nothing out of the feud.

Hmm... Maybe he should be the RAW GM, say he had to hide because he was still under contract with SmackDown. (obviously that makes no sense because SD would sue him lol but good enough for WWE logic) So he'd talk and set up matches, but not wrestle. Meh?

Some day he would make a good GM, no superstar would mess with him and at that stage his now annoying big punch could be handy to sort out the heels. At the moment though I wish he could just lose a few matches, it wouldn't do him any harm.

Yeah, i kinda wish he'd go away, or just be some other wrestler's muscle. (i use the term loosely!) I enjoy his mic work -when he's motivated- but he's a channel-changer for me.

Part of me thinks that he keeps a job because of his carnival-freak-show aspect -- he's a giant, ooh look at the big man. (Am I supposed to throw peanuts at him!) This must be wrestling. It's like when you see Kane for the first time, people (including me) are really impressed at the size.

    Big show booking annoys me.

But I guess it makes sense, being a face you can't have him walking through people pulling them apart.
    But the punch is boring.
Like why even wrestle the match if he can just punch someone out?

Exactly, if you can Punch people out so easy why hit all the chops in the corner etc.

I think I preferred his spear.

Something else that annoys me; punches are ****ing illegal! He should be disqualified for using them!!

(For that matter, so is a bloody punt to the head!)

So, how about if I'm a wrestler and my finishing move is a stomp to the knee, tearing some ligaments and keeping them out for months on end, and I win every time by referee stoppage??

Its illegal, thats the most obvious reason he shouldn't be using the punch but I never thought of it!

As a worker Show is terrible sadly. While he isn't as dangerously overweight as he was in his ECW days, he's still not looking as healthy as he did when he returned in 2008. He has charisma and is one of the few guys that is genuinely good at comedy but that's the nicest things I can say about him.

I would be tolerant of him if they used him as an enhancement talent for the likes of Dolph though..
