Blueface (or other) Vs Skype for iPhone ?

    Hi,

Hoping someone can answer this for me. I'm looking for a solution for my iphone where I can have a landline number which I'll answer through my iphone (I don't have a dataplan). I also want to be able to make calls through my iphone & my "landline" number will display.

Would skype (which I do use on my iphone) be suitable for this or would it be blueface or is there another solution which would be better ?

    Thanks in advance

If you don't have a data plan then you could only feasibly use wireless. For the landline number then Blueface would be your best bet (assuming that there are decent SIP clients available for the iPhone).

I use Blueface with 'Acrobits softphone'. It works really well. I've rarely used it over 3G but my GF phoned Canada (using the G. 729 Codec, which costs extra) and both sides said it sounded perfect.

So is this possible with iPhone and a data plan?

It is possible. I have unlimited data (lucky timing) but mainly use it over wifi. It definitely works over 3G with the G.729 codec.

Amazing! So is a SkypeIn number the way to go? I need a landline number for the business, but need to take the calls on the mobile. Getting a iPhone anyway.

    Hi,
A good application to use on the iPhone with the Goldfish service is Acrobits. http://www.acrobits.cz/
    regards,
