    Hi,
on Friday i traded my 2002 peugeot 406 coupe for a 2006 VW golf (1.4) and now i'm heartbroken!

no problems with the golf, it's grand....but it's not the Peugeot....i've had a serious change of heart on this...

so i'm looking for advice....what's the likelihood of being able to go back to dealer and get the 406 back? (prepared to pay a little.....and chalk down to moment of madness.....but wondering if they'll even entertain it?)

    any thoughts?
    c.

You're at the mercy of the dealer. I'd get on to him straight away and explain the situation. Hopefully he still has your Peugeot and hasn't sold it into the trade. You could be chasing it for a while if he has. If you offered him 500 or so as compensation he might entertain it?

The 1.4 Golf would be a let down no doubt.
Id say the dealer will want at least 1 thousand to cover all the hassle

Are there Vat implications or anything else?

Also, I'd say it's more trouble than it's worth - they'd have to claw the commission back from the salesperson and budget for re-prepping the car etc.

You've also added another owner to the car and depreciated it that way too.

I'd be surprised if you get a "yes".

Could it be simpler to buy it back as a trade car and keep it as a weekend car maybe?

Lesson learned, never buy a 1.4 Golf!

Ah don't get so hung up on it OP. Its only a car after all, you probably appreciate the golf just as much in time anyway :)

It can be an emotional thing to say goodbye to a car but youll get over it. I remember being quite heartbroken when I traded in my Civic but a few days of driving my Accord cured me of that!
