Im thinking of buying a Fiat Punto Mk2.

Are all the ELX models (1.2) 16 valve?

What is their reliability like does anyone know? No Fiat-haters please!

Also, was the 16valve version of the Renault Clio II sold in Ireland?

Which do you think would be better, 16valve clio or 16valve punto?

i had an ELX Mk2, and it went through head gaskets like a mad yoke.
It was an 8v, and im not sure if the ELX came in 16v, the HLX did.

it also had a power steering failure 8000 miles after i bought it.

i liked the car, but it wasnt great. maybe get a sporting version, theyre apparently much more reliable.

Irish elx models were 8 valve. Hlx 5 door is 16v. As is sporting 3dr. Hlx is 5 speed, sporting is 6.
Crunching between 1st and 2nd is common enough and means the syncromesh is shagged.

    UK got elx 16v model.

Thanks for that, I thought all the elx models were 16valve!

By any chance, does anyone know about 16valve clios (1.2) , are they available?

Fiesta 1.25 16v worth a look. Nice handling and lovely engine too.
