    i mean really weird...like you're watching a cheap/old film....its hard to explain:o....just wasn't right.
i tried settings on the TV and SKY boxes respectively but still no joy...
it looks like one of those cheap films off men4movies channel or the old 'odyssey' channel years ago.... the colour nschemes and depth perception just isn't right..

Was it plugged in by scart or by aerial from RF out? RGB scart is a much much better picture than RF out.

Also, ensure that your Samsung TV has settings like MPEG Noise reduction at low or off levels. These settings can really balls up picture quality. Essentially it is software running on the picture trying to optimise. In reality I have only seen these software optimisers make the picture worse.

    sports are horrible in sd
    hard to improve
you could re-crimp the coax cables going to the lnb inputs just in case
check that they are sat grade cable...cheap coax from dish to box could be fudging it up.
also use a decent quality scart (by that i mean one which costs a tenner) - leads are all mostly all the same but if you've got a real bargin basement scart lead you'll notice slight improvement when upgrading.
also check tv settings reduce contrast etc.
