Hey all, I'm pretty useless when it comes to the finer details of buying laptops so I just wanted to ask a question or two!...I'll really only be using it for college work, internet, music so I wanted to know if...

    1) A 250gb hard drive is enough? There's an option for 500gb but it might be unnecessary?

    2) What the hell is RAM and will 2gb be enough?

I know how noobish I sound so sorry for being so clueless about these things :p Thanks for any help though :)

250Gb is more than enough for most people imo. It depends on what you'll be filling it with though! And as for RAM, it's pretty much the memory the computer uses to run applications, generally the more the better. But again, 2Gb should be sufficient, 3/4Gb would be the standard on a lot of machines these days, but it's by no means a minimum.

Post a link to the laptop you are looking at and we can help you from there. And maybe give us a better idea about what exactly you're going to be using it for, such as mobility etc.

250gb is enough drive space, for anyone.2gig ram is fine,it can be upgraded to 4gb if necessary in future,If you google program x recommended specs it,ll give you more info, eg music prog x needs 1gig ram, 1.5ghz cpu ,cpu is the brain of the laptop.
google recommended laptop for music student.
ram = memory space needed for programs to run and process information.
more ram =programs run faster, you can use many programs at the same time.
