Nintendo Stars Catalogue

I saw last week that Nintendo put some cool items in the Stars Catalogue to celebrate Mario's anniversary. The best thing was the Wii Classic controller in the style of the SNES controller. I'd love that but it was 7000 points!

I did have enough points for the ? Block though.

Cool plushie :) I got a Nintendog plushie from there a few years ago. I also got the DS about a month early through the catalogue.

I've used up most of my stars on WiiWare points. Not as exciting as some of the limited stuff, but I did get a few games from it.

It's a pity they've given stars a year before they expire now. It's not possible to build up a lot any more, and some people have lost theirs.

I lost a LOT of points myself, would have loved that SNES classic controller :( It's priced way too high though. You'd have to go mad buying stuff now to be able to afford that kinda cost in star points now though!!! At 500 points for a console, and 250 per game, that's one hell of a lot to buy within a year!!!

I had a couple of tens of thousands of stars when nintendo introduced the policy of cancelling them all if they aren't used in time. I couldn't send them on wii points quick enough and lost tens of thousands of them. Was so annoyed with the system I never used it again.

It's a cute idea as a reward points scheme, but absolutely ridiculous in terms of the cost of the most desirable (and intentionally scarce as all hell) items.

I wish they'd just outright sell more of the things you can get in the Stars catalogue, so that you could buy things or get them free using your Star points. That way using Star points would feel more like a genuine reward for buying a certain number of games and less like taking part in an internet fanboy pissing contest...

You should see the japanese equivalent. The store is much better priced and they have loads more exclusive items and even some games that are only available through the reward scheme.

Oh, I'm totally prepared to believe that. Shame too, I don't get why they'd make things like the Zelda Retrospective disc hard to get at (well, I say hard, I got mine through buying Mario Kart Double Dash at Argos, but there you go) when selling it for cash would introduce an additional revenue stream without stopping those who have the stars from using their stars to buy it instead...

I just ordered the Mario pushie but for some reason it asks for a postcode when I try and order (even though the country is set to Ireland) :o. I got around the postcode block by changing the country back to the UK and then entering the NI post code and then changing the country back to Ireland and it seemed to work
