Myself and my fianceé are arguing which are better more entertaining movies.

She says Lord of the rings

    I say Star Wars

    - Both movies have excellent lore and deep backstories

But i think for fun Star Wars is better,

We have both given our arguments but thought it would be better suited to here and see what everyone else thinks.

Cos I grew up with them, Star Wars, but I do love the LOTR trilogy too, but for rewatchability, Star Wars. LOTR I watch maybe once every 12-18 months as they're so long and I cant just watch one of them, so I have to devote a week to watching each half of the extended edtions a night.

As far as being able to watch frequently, Empire Strikes Back is probably the best of the lot. Overall I'd prefer the LotR trilogy to the riginal Star Wars trilogy.

Whoever voted for Star Wars I, II, III please own up to it so we can begin planning your execution.

Maybe they thought I, II, & III were indicative of order of release?

Ha ha ha i voted for Eps I-II-III.
After watching the crap outta all of the Star Wars movies, I find Ep IV very slow, V (excllent) and half of VI to be crap (basically everything besides Luke v Vader). Given the opportunity i'd rather re-watch the prequels, especially my favourite, Ep III. I really enjoyed the LOTR trilogy but i'd expect non-fans to find it excrutiatingly slow and boring.
