There are lots of free gigs on for the jazz. The metropole is free for the afternoon jazz sessions and is always worth checking out. They charge in after 6. But there are lots of bars all across town with good live bands in them that weekend.

You'll need to book in advance for Herbie Hancock on saturday night and probably Tord Gustavson on Sunday afternoon (both will sell out - both are at Everyman)
