sony blu-ray player picture dropping problem

    hi,
i recently purchased a sony blu-ray player, and connected it to my sony bravia 1080i tv using a belkin hdmi cable.
it works fine for the most part, but periodically the connection to the player seems to drop, and the tv screen goes black, and the only thing that is written on the screen is the white sony text at the top left of the screen saying the input channel (HDMI), and then 1080i/60 underneath this. It only happens for less than a second and then the picture returns, and would only happen about once during watching a movie.
So my question is, where would be the source of the problem, and how to correct it? Is it the player, the hdmi cable, or the tv itself? Any help would be appreciated. cheers,q.

Have you anything else that uses HDMI, so you could rule out the TV/cable?

    What model is the player?

i don't have anything else i could try out unfortunately at the mo, altho i am getting a new laptop in work this week, which may have a hdmi socket on it. the player is a BDP-S360. i guess i should update the software on the player anyway, and see if that makes any difference??

Yeah, might be worth a try.

Also, in the video settings of your BD player, if it is set to Auto, change it to 1080i instead.
