Shooting permission near Gorey

I've moved to Gorey about a year ago and I just can't seem to find anyone in the area interested in putting their name down as a shooting permission for me.
I don't like the idea of just walking up strangers driveways, especially since older people are getting a bit more nervous about living out on farms. But I've asked in clubs and gunshops in the area and no luck.
I have a 12bore and cert for it as well as relevant insurance.

I'd be willing to pay for the privilege either in cash or in labour (I've some experience on farms, some building experience too).

Would also be willing to get rid of vermin if desired.

not being smart with you, but thats the only way, anyone with permission might not want to share, knock on doors we all have to do it, and most people love to see people calling, in my experience the older people are glad to have people calling and having a chat maybe giving them a rabbit or two, start calling is the only advice i can give.. what shooting are you looking to do

I tried it at first around the area and people were looking at me as though I had two heads. I got the impression that I was worrying some people (just for the record, I wasn't carrying a shotgun at the time! Not that stupid yet).

Yeah, I suppose that I was hoping to find someone on the board who was reasonably nearby who might get my foot in the local shoots.

I'm not too pushed about what to shoot. I haven't had much work of late. A lot of it is just about getting out of the house for a few hours and trying to get my eye in on my new Beretta.

I shoot in a club up in North Wicklow but now I've moved, it's miles too far to drive for an hours shooting.

ah you might get lucky with one of the lads here yet, have you tried all local clubs?

I've tried a few that I could find and heard rumours of new ones due to open in the near future but there aren't too many that I can find reference to or that anyone has told me about.

Even trap-shooting would be grand if I could find somewhere close enough.

Actually just found some names on the board that might still be active clubs. I'll give them a try.

I feel your pain!!
Im in the same position. I moved to wexford 4 years ago and still find myself driving to north wicklow to a bit of shooting!?!?
Its a nightmare..

Curently in gorey too ! Having difficulty getting into gun clubs in the area aa there is no gun club in gorey town ! Some of the gun clubs in the area have long waiting lists to join then some of the others are by invitation only Courtown is supposed to be open for membership !
