Today, Sunday 19th Sept, ALDI have a 3 way HDMI Switch Box with InfraRed remote control and sensor for sale at 11.99e each. Not a bad price and very useful for anyone who has a HD TV with only 1 HDMI input and more than 1 HD device e.g. Bluray,Xbox etc. to connect up. The store I was in hadn't got many of these in stock.

Very handy piece of kit, got one myself for my LG TV. Have my humax sat box connected to the TV while I have my surround sound and PS3 connected to the HDMI switcher and then to the TV.
Don't really need the remote as the LG picks up the PS3 when it's on and visa versa.

Great deal, normally these things cost 40 euro and upwards.

    Thanks OP.

Argos have an Alba 2 Way Switch Box (manual) for 19.94e but this one is far better value.

Pity it needs a power supply though; I have a Portta 3-way switch I bought off eBay and it doesn't need any power. It just automatically picks up the last thing turned on - xBox, PC, media player.

It doesn't need a power supply.

Cheers for the heads up on this ,it works a treat.

It doesn't come with a power supply ,even though the picture on the site shows a 5V power connection.

It auto switches ,so the remote isn't really necessary.
Also found a tevion av switch listed on harmony's remote software that operates it perfectly.

Yeah, there's a DC/5v input on it alright but I don't know why  The remote is only useful if you want to switch sources when each source is on. All in all good value at 11.99.
ps I wonder if I should ask ALDI for a commission on sales :D

Maybe it's like some USB hubs that have an external PSU input in case the power requirements of all attached devices exceeds what it can provide independently?

Thanks TM, you're probably right. It must be standard for these devices to have power inputs regardless of their usefulness because they don't mention it on the packaging or enclosed instructions.

Is this still on?? Would be really handy for my Xbox 360 and PS3. I hate having to plug them in and out at the back whenever I want to switch :o

Don't know what you mean by 'still on' but check out your local Aldi store because when they're gone they're gone.

The OP said "Today, Sunday 19th Sept" so I thought maybe the offer's finished. Does it go on until they're out of stock?

There were plenty left in Aldi in Castletroy, Limerick at 5pm yesterday. Very handy device indeed. Have 4 HDMI machines but only 2 HDMI connections at back of my TV. Need to buy some more HDMI cables now :)

Just picked up one of these in the Aldi near Northside SC, they had loads left up beside the tills. Cheers for the heads up on this, my HD LCD only has 1 HDMI so will definitely come in handy when we get a bluray player etc.

Every Thursday and Sunday ALDI have their 'Special Buys' and yes they are there until they're gone. Some stores have more than others. The store I was in only had about 15 at opening. Get down to your nearest Aldi pronto and pick one up. You wont be sorry.

Sorry if this is a bit ot. But does anyone know if it's ok to use this on the end of a 5M hdmi cable ?

The reason I bought this is because I've moved my devices away from the tv with a long cable ,but I'm not sure if the splitter needs power for this ?

Everything works fine ,but I've not experience with these splitters.

If it works then it's no problem. I'm still not 100% sure what the DC/5v input is for but an earlier post in this thread from TM could be right. Anyway if you find you need a PSU it shouldn't be too hard to pick one up.

Will the remote work if you don't use external power? Seems to me that you would need an ir receiver to detect the remote signals, so does the receiver in the unit work by taking power from the connected HDMI cables? Just curious.

Yes, the IR receiver plugs into the unit and yes it all works great without any PSU.

Cheers, picked one up in ALDI in Fonthill Retail Park earlier. They still had 4 or 5 left beside one of the tills. Now just need another HDMI cable and I'll be all set :D
